Welcoming. Affirming. Celebrating.
Montrose United Methodist Church is a Reconciling Church, which means we welcome, affirm, and celebrate all people regardless of race, creed, class, ability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, housing status, employment status, marriage or family status. We believe all people are loved by God and called to full participation in faith. When we say to "come as you are," we mean it as more than just an invitation into the church; we mean it as an assurance that you will be accepted, loved, and welcomed with open arms to everything the faith community has to offer, including participation in ministry, pursuit of church leadership, and the celebration of marriage.
As United Methodists, we believe in the inherent worth and dignity of all God's children. We state in our Book of Resolutions: "The United Methodist Church believes God's love for the world is an active and engaged love, a love seeking justice and liberty. We cannot just be observers. So we care enough about people's lives to risk interpreting God's love, to take a stand, to call each of us into a response, no matter how controversial or complex. The church helps us think and act out of a faith perspective, not just respond to all the other 'mind-makers-up' that exist in our society."
We believe the love of Jesus was, and is, radically inclusive. Come as you are, and leave reborn — not by changing who you are, but by finding joy and hope in a community that honors and celebrates the wonderful diversity of all creation.
