First, our 25 UMC Care Team
Members seek to serve persons who are homebound, shut-in
or have limited mobility. They may also have long term
chronic illnesses, or short term recovery from an
operation or hospital or care facility stay. They may be
persons who are lonely, depressed or have suffered the
loss of a family member or friend, or the persons who
need a friendly contact a couple of times a week or to be
taken to the grocery store, to a doctor's appointment, or
to church or to see a friend. They may not be sick, but
just need a friend to confide in.
We also have handymen
available who are willing to assist our care friends with
projects and repairs needed in their home.
There are persons available
to assist with transportation for shopping, doctors
appointments and visits. Call the church office for more
information at 249-3716.
Our Care Companions and
Counselors
These are trained counselors
who assist the pastors with on-going counseling
responsibilities available to our church members as
needed.
Pastor Mark Marston
supervises these counselors with their training and
counseling duties, and makes assignments of the
counseling services they will be asked to provide to a
client.
Persons needing these
counseling services are asked to contact one of the
pastors for assistance in scheduling meetings with a
pastor. Please call the church office at 249-3716.
The "Building
Community" Work Area
A team of church members are trained
to assist the Congregational Care Minister in inviting
visitors to our church worship services and to
orientation sessions on the history and polity of the
United Methodist Church. They, then, invite them in time
to become active members of the Montrose UMC. In
addition, they seek to intergrate these visitors into the
programs, friendly fellowship and activities of the
church.
A second team makes contact with
members who have become non-participants in the active
life of the church, to reintroduce them to the classes
and activities in the church with the hope that they will
become active again.
How You can be recieved
into the membership of this United Methodist Church
Every other month or so, we
announce in our newsletter a new date when new persons
will be invited to become full members of the Montrose
United Methodist Church and when Pastor Mark will hold
two one-hour orientation sessions at 9:45 A.M. on the two
preceeding Sundays to discuss the history and programs of
the UMC with all the prospective members.
A member of the New Member
Intergation Committee will get in touch with each
prospective member and ask for information to prepare for
their being received into the membership in this church.
The next date for the Reception of Members will be held
on ( TBA ) during the worship service of your choice. For
more information on these ministries please call the
church office at 249-3716.
